{❄} He crossed his arms, watching the way the other walked. The kid seemed scared, and small in this space? Was this really the rockstar-to-be that the managers had been talking about? With this attitude, he sincerely doubted it. The kid looked near ready for a beating.
Kyn opened his mouth, lying the folder on the desk and flipping it open- about to say something, but Shuichi spoke before him. Good, so at least he had the right kid up here- that bit wasn’t a waste of time. He pushed up his glassed by the rim and parted his lips again, ready to start asking him about everything he’d jotted down in the file. He paused, startled by Shuichi’s expression once more- was he expecting to be berated?
Then came the second set of words and the producer’s jaw nearly dropped. Not amazing, he said, that they could find someone better. Who the hell had this kid been talking to that he felt like his art was at that low of a level. There was obviously talent here- raw talent, given. But that was the best form, given that it can be molded into something much greater. Let’s not try and make the skiddish thing defensive,
“How old are you, kid?” Kyn rubbed his temples with his hands, “Because I bet you that when I was your age, I wasn’t composing shit even near to this level.”
"What?” Shuichi’s gaze snapped to his producer, eyes wide. Had he heard him right? No one had ever praised his lyrics. Not his manager, not his band mates or friends… And to hear the guy responsible for the whole company say that he was composing at a high level? It made his heart pound. His cheeks flushed deeply. “W-Well, I’m nineteen years old.”
